fccFact Check

Method

How we fact-check

Every story passes the same gates: claim selection, independent sourcing, explicit verdicts and a correction path.

1. Claims

We extract checkable statements and quote them as published.

2. Sources

Supported, contradicted and misleading verdicts require at least two independent sources.

3. Verdicts

Supported matches the evidence; contradicted shows the opposite; misleading is literally true but framed to mislead; unverifiable means no public evidence either way.

4. Publishing and corrections

A story publishes only when every claim has a verdict and the editor signs off; published versions are immutable snapshots.

5. Translations

Machine translations are labelled MT; only proofread versions are the official translation.
